VIDEO: How important is a Catch Can on a Direct Injection Engine?
We had all ready found some oil residue in our 2007 BMW 335i project car's charge pipe, so you can probably guess what we found when we took off the intercooler...
If you have been following our series on Catch Can's and Air Oil Separators, you know that oil vapor from crank-case pressure is almost a given on a modern turbo-charged engine. And there are some good options out there to try to minimize that.
But it turns out that on the new generation of Direct Injection Engines, there may be even more good reasons to take this oil vapor seriously, and try to stop it before it progresses into bigger problems.
In this video, we will walk you through what we found on our BMW 335i, and what we are doing to start removing that oil vapor from our intake track.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for your support!
