Toyota and Subaru Making a Mystery Announcement April 5th, 2021
Something is happening on April 5th, and it might be big.
It also might be nothing.
But it could be huge too, so we wanted to pass it on.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Subaru and Toyota jointly announced that they are going to make an announcement on April 5th in Japan. And what is particularly attention worthy is that the announcement will be made by the head of Toyota's Gazoo Racing Division.
The fact that it is a joint announcement from Subaru and Toyota would imply that this is not just going to be Toyota's launch of their re-designed Toyota 86, but that is the most likely car that they could be revealing. Also, this is on Subaru's Japanese web-site, so it would make the most sense that whatever car is going to be announced will be a Subaru too.
Given that this will be in April of 2021, and we have not seen or heard anything about the next generation STI, this is what we are really hoping they will finally reveal. If the rumors that Toyota will have some version of the STI (as a Celica possibly?) are true, this would seemingly fit for a number of reasons.
I won't make any guesses beyond that, but in short, we are hoping for something exciting and big!
