Testing a Dark MatterX Prototype shifter on our VB WRX

When Dark Matter X makes a short-shifter, they don't just re-design it.  They completely re-engineer it.

 

In the case of the 2022+ VB WRX that comes with a cable actuated shifter, they were able to create a short shifter with a mechanical linkage that completely changes the shifter feel.

 

Now that we are a couple of years into this initial design, the folks at Dark Matter X have a couple of ideas that should make their DM-2 shifter work even better, and we are testing out their new Prototype shifter on our 2024 WRX.

 

We go through the install of the shifter in our car, talk about what is different, and give you our initial impressions of how this prototype shifter works.
