Subaru's 3.545 Rear Ring and Pinion ratio explained!
February 13, 2026
From 2004 all the way to 2021, all STI's had a final drive of 3.9:1. But there were two different rear differential ring and pinion ratios used. And for the WRX, most of them also had a 3.9:1 final drive as well up to 2014 (the 06 and 07 WRX had a 3.7:1 final drive) and they also used two different rear R&P ratios used.
The one that has caused the most confusion through the years is the 3.545 R&P ratio, and in this video we want to explain what it is, and how it still gives a 3.9:1 final drive.
Hopefully this helps to clarify the differences.
