Has Subaru been working on the next STI since 2017?

Subaru killed off the STI 4 years ago now, but even before that happened, there were a lot of rumors swirling around about what the next STI was going to be.
They certainly died down when the STI was discontinued, but going back to 2024, they actually started up again, and may actually all be culminating in what we are seeing as the STI Performance-B concept, and the 2026 Super Taikyu car.
To give us a better idea of what the next STI could be, and how likely it is that we will actually see this latest concept car go into production, I think it might be helpful to bring all of that information together to give us a better picture of what Subaru might be up to.
