If you have a damaged or old timing cover, it is always a good idea to replace them when you are doing a timing service.

There are only a few different options when it comes to getting the correct timing cover, and it mostly boils down to whether your car is

Non-AVCS (like the 2002 - 2005 EJ20 WRX)

Single AVCS (like the 2004 - 2007 STI and 2006 - 2014 WRX)

Dual AVCS (like the 2008 - 2021 STI)
