The cam gears are a common piece to be broken when swapping engines, doing head work, or anything else that may require you to remove them.
Also, if you have had a bearing failure, and you see signs of metal contamination in your oil, we strongly recommend replacing these as they are known to hold that contamination and resist cleaning.
